Fate is one of those universal concepts that seems to have an infinite number of permutations. Does Fate really control our actions, or do we have Free Will? Join Lord Solinox Silverstar along with co-panelists Kenya T. Coviak, Baba Ted Jauw, and Erin M. Stellatarum for a discussion of Fate across different cultures and Pagan practices. From the purpose of divination to the effectiveness of magickal “interventions,” from ethics to ancestral and community connections, they’ll explore the web of Fate from four unique perspectives.

Panelist Kenya T Coviak is a Magical Teacher, writer, and creatrix of Detroit Conjure and Folk Magic Festival, the Minaudière de Sorcière Spell Deck Collection, and the My Magical Cottagecore Life podcast. Teaching engagements include ConVocation, Michigan Pagan Fest, Pagan Pride Day Detroit, Hex Fest, WitchCon, Bluewater Pagan Conference, The Black Moon Grove, and more. Her work appears in various publications including Peppermint and Sage Magazine, The Wild Hunt, The Good Witch’s Guide by Shawn Robbins and Charity Bedell, The Heart of the Elder: Good Elders and Their Influence by Lillith ThreeFeathers and Joy Marie Wedmedyk, and Llewellyn’s Complete Book of North American Folk Magic: A Landscape of Magic, Mystery, and Tradition. Her own books include Calico and Kindness: 2021 Winter Solstice Kitchen Adventus, and more. Watch Magical Witchy World TV for Curious Herbalism w/Kenya T. Coviak. You can reach her through detroitconjure@gmail.com, or via booking at A New Moon 22 in New Baltimore, MI.

Panelist Lord Solinox Silverstar is a 3rd-degree High Priestx in the WISE-ATC tradition of Wicca with a BM in Wiccan Ministry from Woolston-Steen Theological Seminary. Originally from Texas, Solinox has lived in Michigan for more than two decades and has dedicated their life to building, growing, and supporting local Pagan community. Solinox is a disabled queer Lokean libertarian homeschooling parent of six who loves sci-fi/fantasy, nature’s bounty, and large quantities of coffee. They currently teach seminary classes and run the Weavers of the Web, ATC church and Keys To Manifestation store in Lansing, Michigan.

For over 15 years, Panelist Baba Ted Jauw has been collaborating together with Lady Kate Jauw and others on installations, at events, in the classroom and more. Their passion is to increase understanding and to open minds and hearts to important issues. The use of art, music and storytelling creates empathy over sympathy and allows for a way to find creative solutions and build community. The ability to create relationships in turn creates action and that is at the heart of their mission. Whether it is a local community or a global one, the idea that art in all its forms can unite us is what they teach, how they heal and who they bless.

Panelist Erin Stellatarum from Hummingbird Hawk-Moth has long studied the Celtic Otherworld and Fairy/Folk tales. She is a teacher, diviner, and shamanic practitioner.

Our moderator Jason Mankey read his first book on Witchcraft in the seventh grade, and at age 22 dedicated his life to the Craft. Today, Jason helps run two Witchcraft covens in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife Ari, and writes books, like lots of books. Jason is a popular speaker at Pagan and Witchcraft events across North American and Great Britain, and loves talking about the Horned One, rock and roll, magickal history, and the Greek Gods.
